Tater Tot Casserole

taterTater Tot Casserole

If you want to be popular with men and boys under the age of 70, perfect this recipe. Comfort food does not begin to describe the relationship my family has with this recipe. Tater Tot casserole has been a staple in my house since I was at least 5. It was one of the first casseroles I learned to master.  Stretch says he decided to ask me to marry him the first time he tasted this recipe. As my family and I went through a lifestyle change last year, I worked hard to make a lower calorie version of this recipe. I did successfully make a lighter version and it will be added after the full calorie recipe.

Ingredients:psalm112

1- lb Ground Meat
1- Yellow Onion Chopped
1- Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1- Jar Cheese Wiz
16- oz Frozen Tater Tots

Lower Calorie Ingredients:

1-lb Lean Ground Turkey or Ground Deer(made with both; prefer deer)
1- Chopped Yellow Onion
1- Can 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/2- cup Shredded Velveeta 2% Cheese
8oz- Half a Bag of Frozen Shredded or Small Hash Browns

Directions:

Pre- heat oven to 350. Brown Meat in a skillet. Drain meat and combine the rest of the ingredients with the exception of the tater tots or hash browns. Spray a small baking dish with pam. Line the bottom of the dish with tater tots. skip this if making low calorie version. Spread the ground meat mix over the tots or in bottom of pan for lower calorie recipe. Cover the dish with another layer of tater tots or hash browns. Bake in oven for 30 to 45 minutes.

I double the recipe for Stretch’s Birthday party. That corn salad, baked beans, Cream of Cilantro Soup, rolls, bacon and cheese ring and the ultimate chocolate cake fed 18 people. stretch
