Did you ever wonder why bread is mentioned so much in the bible? I just checked and bread is mentioned over 400 times in the KJV. I don’t know, but it might be because it is marvelous.  Well Strawberries in bread, enough said. We don’t really think about making bread for potlucks too much.  At women’s bible studies or lady’s tea parties, taking this bread, slicing it up and making sandwiches with cream cheese. OHH MY! Delicious.



½ Cup Butter

1 ½ Cup Sugar

1 TSP Vanilla

1 TSP Salt

1 TSP Lemon Juice

4 Eggs

½ TSP Baking Soda

½ Cup Sour Cream

3 Cups Flour

½ Cups Chopped Nuts

1 Cups Strawberry Preserves

1 TSP Red Food Coloring




Blend butter, sugar, vanilla, salt and juice; beat in eggs one at a time. Dissolve soda in sour cream. Add to egg mixture. Fold in nuts, flour, food coloring, and preserves. Pour batter into two greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes or until bread pulls away from pan.
