This year for Christmas Eve super we decided to have everyone make there favorite finger foods or appetizers. So I dug out this old recipe that I really enjoy, not only eating but also making. If you are like me and love cheese, bacon and mushrooms, you can’t go wrong with this recipe.
2 – 12 0z. pkgs. white button mushrooms (break off the stems)
1 pkg.(6-8 oz.) cream cheese
2 tbsp. sour cream
8 slices of bacon, cooked then chopped
1/2 of a small sweet onion (3 tbsp.) diced (fry in a little bit of the bacon grease)
1 cup shredded mild cheddar
1 tsp. garlic salt
2 cups shredded mozzarella
Mix cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, bacon, onion, and garlic salt all together. Stuff the caps of the mushrooms as liberally as you like. Place the stuffed mushrooms in a greased baking dish or pan, sprinkle parmesan cheese on top of the mushrooms. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. When done baking, set your oven to broil. Cover each mushroom with mozzarella, and broil for 3 or 4 minutes, just long enough to brown the cheese on top. SCRUMPTIOUS!
