Caramel apples for a potluck, you say? Oh Yeah, I have discovered with the majority of people, you let them dip something into something else you are the bomb. Also if you use a tiny crockpot(you know! the ones that come inside the big crockpots sometimes. You think they might be for potpourri or something) they can keep the caramel warm and gooey for dipping. You can also make  any kind of caramel dipped fruit with this. Frozen bananas are a big hit here. Smalls keeps suggesting pineapple, but i haven’t got brave enough for that.


Apples and or fruit of your choice
1 can sweetened condensed milk (either Eagle Brand or Carnation–store brands do not work as well)
1/2 tbls of butter (or you can omit this, but the caramel won’t be as rich)


Place the unopened can in a large saucepan. Cover with water and bring water to boil. Boil for about an hour and a half, turning can over once or twice. While this is boiling slice up fruit. Let can sit on the counter for a few minutes and then open and pour into bowl. (If you open too soon the contents will spurt out all over the place–trust me!) Add butter and mix. pour into a serving dish or crockpot and surround with fruit.
